ADMISSIONS GUIDE
for schools & high schools abroad
If you want to continue your high school studies abroad, then you can not treat lightly the admission process.
Beyond the specific elements of the study destination and the chosen study program, each school has its own calendar and its own admission process.
Depending on the year of study for which you want to apply and the degree of selectivity of the school, the admission process can start 1, 2 or 3 years in advance.
MASTERING THE ADMISSION PROCESS
No matter what country, study programme or school you will decide to apply for, please consider the following: be realistic, do not underestimate the entrance tests and interview, do not put rankings over compatibility, don’t apply to schools that you’d not wish to really consider for a place.

SETTING THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Knowing the child’s strengths and weaknesses, the academic profile, the environment in which she/he has the highest chances to perform, his favourite activities, personal preferences and compatibility with a type of school or another will help you to better understand what schools you should consider. PRE-TESTING
Choose the study programme, type of school and country which best suit your child’s profile and aspirations.
Check the entry requirements and application deadlines, schedule a school visit and find the best match.
SCHOOL VISITS
Nothing may replace the school visits! You will see the classrooms, the sports facilities, the library, the art department, the canteen, etc. You will visit a boarding house (accommodation), will see how the lives of students living there are organized and how important is Houseparent’s role is in children’s lives. You will get a sense of the school environment and will have the chance to speak with current students.
PREPARING THE ADMISSION DOCUMENTS
Each school has its own list of requested documents. Besides the translated school records, passport copy, teacher’s reference, personal statement, and so on, some schools may ask to receive specific pre-test results (e.g. ISEB, UKiset) with the admission documents. Be sure you submit all of them prior to the deadlines. A non-refundable application fee is required by each school.
ENTRANCE TESTS & INTERVIEW
English (the language of tuition), Maths and Verbal Reasoning/Non-Verbal Reasoning tests are the most common entrance tests but, depending on the school and study programme, students may also be tested on Sciences or other subjects.
There are different entrance tests for those who would like to apply for a scholarship.
After the entrance tests, some students may be invited for an interview. The interview helps the admission staff to assess if the students will be a good fit for the school or not. The interview also gives students the opportunity to receive answers to the questions they might have.
